(BA)A proud member of the rich heritage of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Rev. Burns has served in the church for almost 30 years, 10 of which she served in the ministry proclaiming the word of God.
Her vision for the church is to continue the legacy of our founder, Bishop Richard Allen and renew the spirit of the church to walk in the Spirit of God through the power of the Holy Ghost. She believes in worshiping and praising God with the unction of the Holy Ghost. She teaches the membership that when we serve humankind, we serve God. We are empowered to serve all humankind through the Holy Ghost in the Great Commission.
Burns is a graduate of Central High School in Helena, Arkansas. After high school she attended Phillips County Community College where she received an Associates of Arts Degree in Business Administration (BA). She later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business from University of Phoenix; a Master of Divinity Degree (M.Div.) from Jackson Theological Seminary in North Little Rock, Arkansas and is currently attending United Theological Seminary in a M.Div. in Pastoral Counseling in Dayton, Ohio.
She has been recognized as Federal Employee of the year on two separate occasions. She has served proclaiming the Gospel at the Arkansas Department of Corrections Women's Unit in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She serves as chaplain of the Jacksonville Chapter of the NAACP. She is a member of the Federally Employed Women of the Central Arkansas Chapter, American Federation of Government Employees, and the American Chaplain Association.
Rev. Burns has served as treasurer of Conference Women in Ministry, District Dean, Conference Secretary, and currently serves as Episcopal Coordinator of Conference Secretaries.
She is the proud parent of three beautiful daughters and five grandchildren; who continues the teachings of their mother as servants for God.
You can find her serving in any capacity throughout the church as a servant pastor. She proclaims the word of God and you can hear her often say, "We serve a big God and He can do big things." Her favorite scripture is “With God, all things are possible.”
